Best Diwali Marketing Campaigns 2015 Digital Defynd

Diwali is peak season in all senses! Peak traffic, maximum shopping, most people go on holidays and brands also come out with some of their most innovative campaigns to reach out to as many people as they can : ) Presenting some such campaigns which caught out attention and we thought were worthy of featuring in the Best Diwali Campaigns of 2015!

Without further adieu, lets begin! And just to clarify, these appear in no particular order.

1. Air Vistara 

This #HamariPehliDiwali campaign by Vistara has the brand asking couples to participate and win return tickets to destinations of their choice. The ad subtly mentions how its Air Vistara’s first Diwali as well : ) Good job, and seems to break from the clutter for a contest.


2. Nerolac Paints

Jab ghar ki raunak badhani ho, dewaaron ko jab sajana ho, Nerolac, Nerolac! We think that if you’ve grown in an Indian household in the 80s and 90s, then you wouldn’t have been able to help yourself from humming the lyrics mentioned above. Nerolac has a special place in people’s hearts, simply because it has been around for so long and almost everybody would have some or the other association with the brand. In trying to evoke that feeling and encash the same, the brand has come up with a really interesting campaign in asking people to submit their Dubsmashed videos on the Nerolac jingle and upload on Instagram, Twitter or YouTube. Some really innovative and cool entries came up, sharing some of them.


3. Urban Ladder

The one good thing about all new age brands and startups is that they like to go unconventional in whatever they do. Be it hiring, branding or marketing, they try and explore newer avenues and ways to make things work. So Urban Ladder decided to make a short film this Diwali on the theme of bringing parents closer to their kids in a world where they increasingly stay away. Titled #TheHomecoming, it is a warm take on relationships and has been executed brilliantly by the creative team and the Director. You can read more about the campaign here



4. Kurkure

In addition to the regular ad campaigns which we see on TV, Kurkure has innovated and come up with short crisp instagram and YouTube videos for a web only audience. Its hard to know if these will be shared by thousands, but we sure wanted to give them marks for creativity and taking an extra step.


5. Exide Life Insurance

An uncanny winner this season is Exide Life Insurance. Now you don’t directly associate Life Insurance with Diwali, but the team behind this campaign has brilliantly made use of this opportunity to drive home a point. In this multi part series, protagonists of the campaign are seen refusing to spend money on Diwali gifts this year, and invest the same in Insurance instead. In what can be termed a quirky take on e commerce, the brand manages to reach out to its consumers really well. Check out more ads from them right here.


6. Lifestyle

Fresh ideas are brewing all over. Lifestyle tied up with the YouTube channel Coupling, that features @sherryshroff @vaibhavtalwar, a couple who have come up with an interesting YouTube channel where they share new videos every week about their life, travel and other  experiences in general. In this video, the couple can be seen visiting a Lifestyle store and buying clothes for each other. Good job Lifestyle and great chemistry between these two, look out for them in the future!


7. Sony LIV

We have a strong feeling that if we didn’t share it here, you would have missed it for sure. Sony LIV has also come with a Diwali short film, and features some of the actors we famously saw in TVF Pitchers. Starring Naveen Kasturia, Suneel Sinha, Ashish Verma and Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari


8. Lufthansa India

Free tickets are the flavour and Lufthansa is giving some away too. This ad leads you to their website where you can register and stand a chance to win free tickets this Diwali.



9. Tanishq

Tanishq + Deepika Padukone + Diwali = Magic Guaranteed. Definitely brings a smile on your face : ) Watch on.


10. Western Union

The Swades styled campaign has Western Union giving one man the opportunity to light up a village. Executed well, the campaign also has a good social ramification, making it a winner in all senses. What’s more, the company has decided to contribute Rs 100 for every transaction made through the medium for a given time period to light up as many as 10 villages in India.


11. Big Bazaar

Now this comes as a total surprise! The #PaperPatakha campaign from Big Bazaar is surely going to win your heart! Watch it to go back to school time. (And yes, that man behind the counter in the first frame is the same guy from the web series Baked S01)


12. A Piece of Paris

Startups can often spring a surprise and that’s exactly what these guys have done. Nice video about how nobody actually likes Diwali gifts, and how we should buy Macarons from them instead. You can read the story of their founder here

13. NCL Wintech

Haven’t heard of the name? Don’t worry, neither had we, but you will remember it after watching this wizardry. GREAT idea to exhibit a product! Superb job indeed! Just when you think what can a glass manufacturing company do to convey its message, this comes out!



14. Britannia Good Day

They know so well how to make us smile, don’t they : ) After this amazing campaign at a metro station in Bangalore, they are back this Diwali with another reason to make you smile : )


15. Eicher Trucks and Buses

Who can think of a truck manufacturing company making a great YouTube campaign? Well that’s exactly what Eicher has done this Diwali! Brilliant message of discouraging drunk driving; the video, shot in a format and language that the drivers will understand is a great find and a great watch this Diwali. Written & Directed by Faraz Ali, it stars Rajesh Sharma, Vineet Kumar Singh, Aditya Kumar, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Vivek Ghamande, Vijay Sanap and Abhinav Gaur.
